A primary school in Pentwyn recently celebrated its 50th anniversary by going back in time to the 1970s.
Glyncoed Primary School pupils, staff, and alumni donned retro outfits to honour the founding of the school.
Further festivities included recreating the current school logo using recycled bottle tops, a comparison of 1970s and modern lunchboxes, classic party games, and milkshake-making sessions that paid homage to the land's dairy farming roots.
Former staff members returned to share memories, while current pupils wrote heartfelt letters to future students which were sealed in a time capsule and buried on school grounds to be discovered by generations to come.
Headteacher, Mrs Elizabeth Keys said:"Our 50th Anniversary has been a truly joyful occasion, filled with laughter, learning, and a wonderful sense of togetherness. The children have had so much fun exploring our school's history, meeting former staff and pupils, and taking part in a wide range of exciting activities.
"From planting a time capsule to engaging in cross-curricular projects, every moment has strengthened our sense of community and showcased the creativity and enthusiasm of our pupils."
Cllr Sarah Merry, Cardiff Council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for education, said: "The 50th celebrations are a reminder of how Glyncoed Primary School has grown and thrived over the decades and it is heartening to hear how the pupils have been engaged in learning about the past while leaving their own mark on the school's future."
