A 96-year-old man has been awarded honorary life membership in recognition of his dedication and longstanding service to a hospital radio station.
Hospital Radio Glamorgan gave the honour to its oldest volunteer, John Webber, after 28 years of service.
He is the 11th volunteer in station’s to receive the accolade, which recognises an outstanding contribution to the charity.
Mr Webber joined the station in 1998 and continues to volunteer, still presenting Sunday evening show.
Chair of Hospital Radio Glamorgan, Jamie Pritchard, said: “John’s dedication to Hospital Radio Glamorgan is truly remarkable.
“For nearly three decades he has given his time, experience and passion to the station, while also supporting generations of volunteers and that includes me!
“He is a much-valued member of our team, and it is only fitting that his contribution is recognised with honorary life membership.”
Over the last 28 years, Mr Webber has helped develop the station and encouraged many volunteers who have joined the station, including his son, Ian.
Hospital Radio Glamorgan began in 1967 at the Cardiff Royal Infirmary and is now based at the University Hospital of Wales.
