A school in Roath has received positive feedback from an education watchdog following an inspection this January.
Roath Park primary school, on Pen-y-wain road, has been praised by Estyn
Inspectors found that the school provides a “welcoming and inclusive environment where pupils feel safe, supported and valued”.
The report highlights exemplary attitudes to learning, strong progress in communication, reading and mathematics, and highly effective support offered to pupils with additional learning needs.
It also states that leaders place “a strong emphasis on developing respectful relationships, kindness and emotional awareness,” helping pupils to flourish both academically and personally.
Headteacher Lewis Fitzgerald said: “This outcome is the result of hard work to establish positive relationships and successful collaboration between pupils, staff and the wider school community.
“We are proud to be a diverse school where every child feels like they belong."
Estyn recommended that the school develops opportunities for pupils to reflect on their own beliefs and the beliefs of others through the curriculum and daily collective worship.
The school will now address this in their action plan.
A Cardiff council spokesperson said: “The report reflects the dedication of staff, the commitment of pupils, and the strong support of families.
“The school’s nurturing culture and high expectations ensure that every child is given the opportunity to succeed.”
