Burglar jailed after nine-day crime spree

A man who went on a nine-day crime spree across north Cardiff has been jailed.

Mark Burnell pleaded guilty to three burglaries, three attempted burglaries and multiple counts of fraud by false representation.

He appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on June 17 when he was jailed for four years.

Burnell was arrested on January 6 this year and committed his crimes in Whitchurch, Rhiwbina and Llandaff.

Burnell used stolen bank cards to buy items such as perfume, make-up, a bottle of whiskey and a meal at a local Indian restaurant.

He also bought spent hundreds of pounds with stolen bank cards and stole personal property - such a photograph of one of his victim’s late husband which was never recovered.
