Cardiff Council has approved plans to convert two properties in Gabalfa into nine flats despite concerns about parking.
The application to convert 1 and 3 Soberton Avenue into nine self-contained units was approved by the local planning authority on 20 May 2025.
The adjacent properties are currently set up as four flats - that number could now more than double.
Permission covers construction and renovation work, including ground floor rear and side extensions, first floor rear extensions, and rear dormer loft conversions.
Ward Councillors did not raise any objections but representations were made from locals including:
That there will not be enough parking or illegal parking will increase
Concerns about rubbish, fly-tipping
Worries the development could increase traffic
In response, planners noted the site is in a “highly accessible location with public transport links” and that cycle storage facilities will be provided.
Additionally, occupants of the new flats would “not be eligible” for resident parking and the development will “retain sufficient space for waste storage”.
