LGBTQIA+ short film prize open for entries

Chapter Arts Centre is now accepting submissions for the 2025 Chapter Queer Short Film Prize.

The competition celebrates short films by Welsh creators for or about LGBTQIA+ audiences.

Shortlisted films will be screened at Chapter on 4 June, with the final programme announced on 23 May.

The winner will be nominated for the Iris Prize Best British Short and broadcast on Channel 4 and Film4.

Films must be in HD or 4K (.mov or .mp4) and submitted by Monday 19 May to moviemaker@chapter.org.

Entry is free, and screening tickets are also free. Booking in advance is recommended.

Category Rules:

  • Under 39 minutes in length

  • Completed between 1 June 2023 and 1 June 2025

  • Must originate from Wales

  • For, about, or of interest to LGBTQIA+ audiences

  • All types welcome: fiction, animation, or documentary

  • Online or previously broadcast films are allowed

The event is for 18+ audiences due to strong material, as noted on Chapter’s official announcement.
